11/15/2023 0 Comments Gle v x5The X5 is betting looking and drives so well too. The MB shifts smoothly for sure but I prefer the BMW transmission, it just works.Īfter driving the X5 for the last few months, I don’t see myself going back to MB. As everyone will point out the BMW has a sportier ride and the transmission in the X5 works so well too. You essentially can get all the same features with the exception that the Benz will cost a bit more. I can say that BMW and Benz are remarkably competitive with the X5 and GLE. The Benz will deliver on all of those items with either engine choice. I’m not buying and vehicle of this size for a sports car replacement. I honestly believe the 4 cylinder would be adequate a majority of the time. That said, I knew I wanted a 6 cylinder not a 4 cylinder, I drove the 4 cylinder several times too before ordering the second GLE450. MB finally did ship the units I ordered just a few weeks ago. After the second order was built then not shipped and shipment delayed twice I went to the BMW store and bought an X5 off the lot. Both were built and not shipped for many months. I actually ordered two GLE450s one last April and then again in June. I am looking for a good comparison of 2 vehicles Thinking about trading in my lexus rx 350. Also didn't like that I could only get their upgraded leather and headliner in black. A previous poster posted an X7 vs GLS review video by the Straight Pipes which I think will serve as a great example of the difference between the brands. I use CarPlay all the time and here you have this giant screen in the Benz and CarPlay doesn't even fill it up it's just a small 8" square. Aesthetics aside (I prefer BMW's dash and design), I didn't like the software. I know I'm probably in the minority here but I really wasn't impressed with MBUX. For S&Gs I also took a 450 out for a spin at a later date and, while better, I was very underwhelmed. I remember turning into traffic and being like holy sh*t we're going to get hit because the little put put engine wouldn't go. I test drove a loaded 350 before the 450s were on the lots around here. I honestly thought going into this that I was going to prefer the Benz. I cross-shopped my X5 with Audi (Q7), Mercedes (GLE 350/450), Lincoln (Aviator), and Lexus (RX and LX).
